This year our New Year's Eve party was a blast. We had a delicious dinner, played minute to win it New Year's Eve games, and lit sky lanterns!
Aleah and Cade were both very curious about what was going to happen when it became the new year. They asked many questions, many times. "What is going to change?" "Will something be different?"... They were all good questions and to some of them I didn't know the answers or didn't quite know how to explain it!
Aleah and Cade have been taking music class and loving it. I love the days when I get to go to class with them.
Of course, the first Monday in January meant that Brad was off on a business trip. When he returned he had a couple of days and then he was off to New York City. So I had to go with him! First reason, my sanity! After New York he would be gone to D.C. for a week. Yes, that means he was gone most of January. It is always a crazy busy travel month for him. Second reason, it's New York! I'm so thankful that Brad's Mom was able to take care of Aleah and Cade for us. She is amazing!
Brad got upgraded to Economy Comfort and being the kind husband he is, he called up Delta and was able to get me upgraded with him! We had a nice flight and there was much less crying, on my part, than there was last year! Leaving Aleah and Cade is hard, but I did better this year.
We stayed in a really nice hotel at Time Square.

The elevators were fun. They were really cool looking. They went so fast that I would have to pop my ears every time! Brad and I kept thinking about how much Aleah and Cade would love riding in the elevators. So we did FaceTime with them and took them in the elevator. We only got a couple of funny looks from other people.
While Brad was working I met up with with one of my best friends, Rachel. I had to take the subway to meet up with her. I was so nervous! I asked a bunch of people for help. It was funny because most of the people I asked were just as lost as I was! Thankfully, I found the right train and found my friend Rachel! After that, I was pretty much a pro.
I loved jumping into her life. I just followed her around. We went to a birthday party with her daughter, picked her kids up from school, had dinner together, went to church, did some sightseeing, and talked and talked and talked! I loved every minute!
We were able to go on a double date one night. It was absolutely and completely freezing cold weather! We had a wonderful dinner at Carnegie Deli. But, after walking back to the hotel I could not warm up. I had to take a hot shower because I was frozen to the bone!
We tried out the whispering corners in Grand Central Station. At first I didn't think that it was working. But, suddenly I could hear Brad as if he was standing right next to me. It was awesome!
I always love our vacations to New York City, even if it was freezing cold weather!
Brad had a good time in D.C. the following week. Well, not as good as New York, of course! Despite all the many meetings, he was able to find a few moments to sightsee.
And he did make it on the big screen talking about one of their new products! He is my superstar.
Meanwhile, the kids and I went on a date to watch the U of U gymnastics meet.
Aleah really enjoyed it this year. Cade was done after the first rotation. We left early because they were ready for bed. They must take after me, I love bed time. Sleep? Yes, please! They both fell asleep on the drive home.
The morning after the meet we got up early for Aleah's first meet! Boy was she excited! She looked incredibly cute in her team leo with her hair all done up. And her smile, her beautiful smile lasted the entire time! I, on the other hand, was completely nervous! I had to keep reminding myself that it wasn't my meet!
These girls are all SO cute and such good friends!
She did so good on every event. It was so much fun to watched her!
Her smile only got bigger when she opened her envelope and found one red and three blue ribbons.
She accomplished her goal of getting a 34 all around score. She gets to move up to level 3!
Brad got back from D.C. just in time to go with us to Kneaders to celebrate!
