A couple of days ago we learned, the HARD way, why the bumbo has a warning on the side that says, NEVER use on an elevated surface. As I was looking for a picture I found this article about a bumbo recall. The reason for the recall is exactly what Cade did a couple of days ago.
We didn't have a highchair for Cade because they don't sell the one we wanted in stores any more. So I have been putting Cade in his bumbo on the table in front of me while we eat dinner. I eat and feed him at the same time. Last week we noticed that he is getting really strong. He can slide it with his feet and when he straightens his back he almost pops right out of it. So we ordered him a highchair online.
Monday night at dinner I put Cade on the table in his bumbo just like normal. As we were sitting down to eat I got a text. So I went across the room to get my phone. As I was walking back to the table Brad started yelling, Cade Cade Cade! I looked over just as he straightened his back and turned in such a way that he popped right out of the bumbo and went flying head first off the table. Brad was inches away from catching him, but we were both on the opposite side of the table so as hard as we tried we were not able to catch him. I even put my hand in my dinner trying.
It just makes me sick! I can't believe it happened. Thankfully he is fine. He had a bump on his head that we iced and then next day it was gone. My dad came over and checked him out for us. He didn't have a concussion, but his neck was really stuck in one spot. I am thankful that my Dad is amazing and was able take care of him!
Guess what showed up the VERY NEXT DAY? That's right my friends, his highchair!
So now we are the proud owners of two highchairs.
Here is the happy boy with his breakfast on his face having fun hitting his sippy cup on his tray. That's what sippy cups are for, right?!

Brad had a birthday shout hooray!
Happy Birthday to Brad. Brad's birthday was yesterday and we had a fun time celebrating. This last week I have been singing Happy Birthday in hopes that Aleah will catch on. On Sunday we celebrated my Mom's birthday and Brad's birthday with my family. As we were leaving I told Aleah to give my Mom a hug and tell her happy birthday. She ran over to give her a hug and started singing Happy Birthday to her. It was so cute! Yesterday I tried many times to get her to sing to Brad. She wouldn't do it. Then that evening out of the blue she sang Happy Birthday to him, obviously not the whole song just the beginning. What a cutie! Brad LOVED it!
Brad's present from Brent and Brittney and my parents was a night out. Brent and Brittney watched Aleah and Cade for us until my parents were able to pick them up after they got off work. We went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. We decided to sit outside since it was a nice night. Well, the storm rolled in and it started raining. They were nice enough to get us a table inside. Then we went to see Inception on the mammoth screen. It was a really good movie! The only downfall is they did the, let's shake the camera durring the fight scenes technique. I hate that technique. I can't tell what is going on. It drives me crazy because I am trying to make it stop shaking. I kept turning to Brad and saying, "Was that the good guy or the bad guy?" Maybe I'm strange and you all love that technique.
It was such a fun evening for us. We haven't really been on a date since Cade was born. So that was a great present!
I am so thankful that I have been able to spend another wonderful year with Brad. Ten years ago we had our first date on August 8th. Brad's birthday might have been our third date. We went out to dinner and it was awkward because I didn't know if I should pay or not. It was his birthday, but we just started dating. In the end he payed, but we did have our first kiss that night. So happy birthday Brad! I sure love you!

Hair Cuts!
I decided that I needed to cut Aleah and Cade's hair. Aleah's hair was getting really long in the back and kind of stringy. I thought that if I cut it then maybe it would grow in thicker. Also because it was so thin at the ends it got in knots really easily. This was the third hair cut for Cade.
I was a little worried about cutting Aleah's hair because all the times in the past that I have cut hair for girls it has ended really badly. One time in junior high my friend made me cut her hair in the girls bathroom because her hair was really really long and her parents wouldn't let her get it cut. Well, it was not straight so my other friend decided to try and then I tried again... I'm sure you know the rest of the story!
I couldn't imagine paying someone else to cut Aleah's hair since she just needed a little trim. So I thought about how I was going to go about cutting it for a few days. I think that I did a great job! I am actually very impressed. It turned out just as I had imagined it. Yay! Her hair looks thicker, and it doesn't knot as easily. I think it is cute! I wasn't too worried about Cade's hair because I use to cut Brad's hair all the time and so boys hair doesn't scare me. I think his hair turned out cute too. I'm happy to say that I didn't even say, Woops!

As you can tell from the after pictures I had some help from Baby Einstein!

All about Cade!
Cade is 6 months old! Wow! I can't believe how fast that went. He is my baby, but he keeps growing up. I'm so glad that he will still snuggle with me every now and then! I just have to say that he is such a cutie. I love that he always has a smile for me. I'm thankful that he is so happy. I have always thought that he is like his dad and after his 6 month check up I know he is. He got his dad's skinny genes, lucky boy!
So what is Cade up to? Pretty much everything! He got Aleah's snacks container the other day. I wasn't worried because I didn't think that he could get anything out of it. I was wrong! He ate one cherrio, that I know of, before I got the others out of his hand. He loves his cereal and is starting to enjoy some different veggies.
He is a mover. He rolls and turns all over the place. He has fun exploring everything!
He is very interested in toys. He loves playing with anything he can get his hands on. Most of the time his favorite toy is still his toes. Yummy!
He is always watching Aleah. He sure loves her! I love how they play together and tickle each other and talk to each other. They have so much fun.
He enjoys going for walks and playing outside. He loves to splash in the water table on the deck. He can soak me in a matter of minutes!
He can sit by himself now. He doesn't do it all the time yet. He still likes to lean into me, but he is doing so good! I am so thankful that he is part of our family! I love watching him grow. I'm thankful that he is healthy and happy!

Something I have noticed
When I am making a meal I try to make it colorful. You know, if you have different colors then it is usually more healthy. Lately I have noticed that after I get the meal all put together it is mostly the same color. An example would be; I made Aleah mac and cheese for lunch and with it I steamed some carrots and gave her a peach. I find it strange that some how I end up choosing fruits and veggies that are the same color even though I am trying to choose different colors. Another example is peas and kiwi or peas and pears. Why do I keep gravitating to the same color?

Happy Pioneer Day!
We had a really fun Pioneer Day. We started our day off with some boating. When Aleah woke up we asked her if she wanted to go on Grandpa's boat. She said, "Yes!" We got her in her swim suit and she had to wear her sunglasses because she was so excited. Even though she doesn't look like it in this picture!
I have not been able to wakeboard for the last two summers. It was a lot of fun for me to get to wakeboard. I am not in as good of shape as I use to be. I have to say that I use to be pretty good. Well, hopefully I can get better, but it was still fun!
Brad, of course, is still super good!
We both had some really good crashes. I was very proud of myself for catching this one.
Here is Cade and Aleah on the boat before we left. I can never get Aleah to look at the camera.
She tolerates him sitting against her for a minute, but this is a very common picture. Haha, maybe she just needs her space.
Here is Aleah in her life jacket. I guess profile shots will have to do for awhile :)
After boating we went home for lunch and naps. Then we headed over to my parent's house for a pool party, dinner, and fireworks. I was very impressed with how comfortable Aleah was in the water.
Cade really enjoyed it also. He just kicked his little legs and munched on his hand. His hat is too small now. I guess his head has grown since we went to Hawaii.
Aleah loved jumping in! She would jump in and then get out and go do it again. One of the times that she was going to jump in she tripped and hit her head on the cement. Poor girl, I hate it when that happens! But she didn't let that keep her down for very long. A few minutes later she was playing again.
My brother put on a great fireworks show for us. It was really fun! He had all the little ones set up so that they would set each other off. It was almost professional. I had fun playing with my camera. I've been reading a book about how to use my camera. So I was trying out a few different settings. I still have a lot to learn, but I think I got some cool pictures of the fireworks. Hopefully all you professionals will go easy on me!
After the fireworks we packed up the kids and went home. Cade didn't even open his eyes once. I moved him from the crib at my parents house to his car seat and then to his crib and he stayed asleep the whole time. Aleah stayed asleep until we put her in her car seat, probably because she has to sit up. She was so funny on the drive home. She would look out the window, say something that we couldn't understand and then bust up laughing. Once we put her in her crib she was out. I think the fact that we got to party and Aleah and Cade still got their sleep made the night even that much better!
