Family Date Night

Last weekend Cade fell down the stairs.  He was trying to take his stick horse down with him.  Brad was right there and knew that it was not going to be a good idea for him to go down the stairs carrying his stick horse.  Brad tried to stop Cade, but couldn't grab him before he tumbled down the stairs.  I say tumbled because he did a summersault after he smacked his head into the stair.  You can't see it very well in the picture, but he got a small black eye and a big bruise on his hip.

Aleah could not be left out when I was taking pictures of Cade's eye.

It snowed again!  This time the snow was perfect for making snowmen.  Aleah and Cade helped me make a big snowman and then Aleah decided to make her own little baby snowman.  I was very impressed at how well she figured out how to make a snowman.  I had to help her get the head on because it kept falling off.  She did such a great job.

After Aleah saw the picture on Brad's phone of Cade having ice cream with Brad for their Daddy Son date, she decided that next time "Cade can go with Mommy and Aleah can go with Daddy to get ice cream!".  Ice cream wins, Brad is now the favorite for date nights!  So we decided to go on a family date night to get some ice cream.

When we were done with our ice cream we walked around Thanksgiving Point a little bit.  The kids were really cute.  They kept telling us to "Come this way." and "Go that way.".  We let them decide where we should go.  It was fun to follow them around for a change.

Aleah noticed a tunnel that we had to go through.  Then she noticed that there were people on top, it was a bridge.  We had to figure out how to get on the bridge.  It was fun to watch her try to find the way to the bridge.  Family Date Night was a success!  We are a happy family!

Las Vegas, Again!

Last week Brad had to go to Las Vegas, again.  He went down for the Digital Signage Expo, or something along those lines.  He got to watch the Blue Man Group again.  This year he didn't have to stay on the show floor the whole time, he got to go to some of the different sessions, which he really enjoyed.

While he was gone the kids and I partied it up at home!  My Grandma Bushman came and had dinner with us one night.  She brought a whole tube of glow sticks.  That entertained Aleah and Cade for about an hour.  They loved it!  She would make them a bracelet or a necklace and then they would run into the bathroom so that they could see it glow.  Then they would run back and say, "I need a blue one now."  or a red one or a pink one...

One night my Grandma Stone had dinner with us and another night my Mom had dinner with us.  We had so much fun with our visitors!  The day that Brad got home Aleah asked me what we were going to do after quiet time.  I told her that we were going to have dinner.  Then she asked, "With Daddy?"  I said yes and she said, "Oh yay, I love to have dinner with Daddy!".  Daddy is always missed when he is gone.

Brad and I had season tickets to the University of Utah gymnastics meets this year.  It has been so much fun to go to the meets together.  It was something that we hadn't done since we had Aleah.  The last home meet was last Friday and I could not find a babysitter.  Brad and I had been debating as to whether or not we should take Aleah to a meet this year.  Her bedtime is around 7:30 and the meets start at 7.  Since I couldn't find a babysitter we decided that Aleah and I would go on a Mommy Daughter date and Brad and Cade would go on a Daddy Son date.

Trying to leave on our separate dates was the funniest thing ever!  Haha, it makes me laugh just thinking about it!  Aleah and Cade are always together.  Sometimes they are with me, sometimes they are with Brad, sometimes they are with both of us, but they are always together.  I put Aleah in the car and Brad was trying to get Cade to go in the jeep.  He was so confused.  He kept trying to get in the car with Aleah.  So we would tell him to get in the jeep and say bye to Mommy and Aleah.  He would say, "Bye, love you." and then he would try to get in the car again.  Haha, it was cute.

Brad and Cade went to Thanksgiving Point and walked around and got ice cream.  Brad said that every few minutes Cade would say, "Where Mommy?"  Brad would tell him and he would say, "Oh." and then ask again.

Aleah was super excited.  She held our tickets the whole way up there, handed them to the guy to get them scanned, and held them until we got to our seats.  During the introduction she was standing on her chair clapping and cheering.  We were having a lot of fun.  The gymnasts started their first events, vault and bars.  Aleah loved it and kelp saying, "Wow, yay!"  Then around 7:30 she turned to me and said, "Time to go home, Mom!".  I couldn't believe it.  I knew that we would have to leave early, but they were still on their first event.  So I convinced her to stay a little longer, but every couple of minutes she would say things like, "My bed is so comfy!", "I really like my big girl bed!", "It's just time to go home, Mom!" and "Where's Daddy and Cade?".  As soon as the last girl finished her bar routine we left.

I got her in her pajamas in the bathroom because I knew that she would fall asleep on the way home.  As we were driving out of the parking garage she asked me where the tickets were and that was it, she was out.  When we got home she woke up as I was laying her in her bed and asked for her Daddy to tuck her in.  It was a fun night and something we will have to do again.

Snow!!!

It finally snowed!  We have been waiting all winter for some snow so that we can go sledding.  On the mornings of February 20th and March 2nd we woke up to snow on the ground!  We were all very excited.  Brad went to work a little late on both of those days so that he could play with the kids in the snow.

On February 20th we didn't get a lot of snow, but there was enough for Brad to pull the kids down our hill on our side yard.  They loved it.  He would get them going so fast down the hill and then whip them around before they went flying off our rock wall.  It was a little scary for me to watch, but the kids had a lot of fun!

We wanted to make a snowman, but the snow would not pack.  So Aleah decided to make a temple and she used the carrot for the steeple.

Cade had fun using his shovel and walking in the deep snow.

 On the afternoon of March 2nd we did some sledding with one of Aleah and Cade's friends.  He has a purple disc sled that would go really fast.  Aleah and Cade LOVED it!

 Cade would lift his legs up in the air every time had made a snow angel.

The week before last was a tough one for Aleah.  She was riding her bike and her foot got caught under the back tire which flung her off of her bike head first on to the cement.  I watched the whole thing happen.  I think that she might have had a little concussion.  As I was icing her head she was not very responsive and I kept thinking that she was asleep.  So I rushed her over to see my Dad.  By the time we got there she started noticing her surroundings a little more and started talking again.  Her neck was so out that she cried when he adjusted her, which never happens, she is usually laughing.  My Mom did laser on her huge bump and about 5 minutes later it started going down.

Then a few days later I was getting ready to slice up some carrots with my food processor.  Aleah was playing with Brad and Cade.  I don't know why but I didn't put the lid on the food processor before I started peeling the carrots.  As I was peeling the carrots Aleah came behind me to help me.  I didn't even think about the fact that the lid was not on the food processor and so the blade was exposed.  About ten seconds later Aleah was crying and saying, "Mommy, Mommy!"

I couldn't not believe it!  Blood was gushing out and so I couldn't see how deep it was.  I grabbed a paper towel and applied pressure and then called my Dad.  My Dad got here in about 10 minutes with all of his gear and that was about the same time that the bleeding finally slowed down.  Luckily the cut was not deep enough for stitches so my Dad did the laser on it and then closed it up with super glue.  I'm very thankful that I have an EMT/Chiropractor for a Dad!

Open Gym!

The gym that Aleah and Cade go to has open gym on Wednesday mornings.  It is only $2.  I love it!  It gives me a chance to coach my two cute kids.  They both are quick learners and I love coaching them.  We have a lot of fun at open gym.

This is Cade's forward roll.

Cade does his handstands by putting his hands on the ground and then lifting up one leg.

Aleah can now get her feet together in the air and step down into a lunge, amazing!

This is Cade's cartwheel.  He does pretty good at getting his feet off the ground and as he does it he says, "Rainbow!".

This is Aleah's cartwheel, her legs are usually straighter than this.  She usually does her handstands starting with her left foot and her cartwheels starting with her right foot.  Such an ambidextrous girl!

Aleah kicked over the bar all by herself.  She was so excited and so was I!

Aleah loves the beam.  Her new class only does two events each week.  On the weeks that they don't do beam she always says, "We didn't do beam today." with a sad face.  On the way to gymnastics she always says, "I hope we get to do beam today!".  She has been working on forward rolls on the low beam.  She can do it all by herself when there are mats on the sides.

Cade also likes the beam and loves trying to walk on the low beams all by himself.

At the end we always have to practice jumping into the pit!
