The Best Looking Grass Around!

When the truck showed up, Thursday the 17th, we all thought, "Wow, that's a lot of grass!"

It was so exciting to finally be getting our sod!  We were eating breakfast and watching out the window the whole time.

Aleah and Cade had gymnastics that morning.  At the beginning of Aleah's class she did a flip off of the tumble track and her knee hit her in her eye.  It was so sad.  I couldn't tell what happened, but saw her start crying as she stood up.  Her teacher didn't notice.  She went back to the line and continued crying. All the girls noticed quickly and gathered around her asking her what was wrong.  When none of the girls were going her teacher finally noticed that something was wrong with Aleah.

Her teacher hugged her and took care of her.  After a few minutes she was participating in her class again.  Toward the end of her class she started crying again when she was doing a kick over.  When she was done with her class I saw the big shiner she got on her eye.  Poor girl, by the end of class it hurt so much to go upside down.  It was even hurting her to blink.  I couldn't believe that her teachers didn't have her put some ice on it!

We stopped at the gas station and got some ice.  She iced it all the way to Grandpa Stone's house.  Grandpa did laser on it and we could see the swelling going down as he did it.  The laser is seriously amazing!  It was half the size when he was done.  She was happy because it didn't hurt to blink any more.

Brad came home from work around 3.  Brad's brother and our two nephews showed up and we got started around 3:45.

 I did the raking while the four guys put down the sod.  They were so amazing!

A couple of hours later my brother, Dad, and Mom arrived.  My Mom took the kids to the park and my Dad helped me with the raking.  Amazing family we have, amazing!

Pizza from Costco, cookies and some shade.  You can't get a better sod party dinner then that!

Even my amazing sister and her husband came all the way down from Syracuse to help us!

 My little nephew Dax was the cutest!  He said, "I need to help you Aunt Shay.  This is hard work!"

We put down the last piece of sod at 8:48, that's 5 hours!  That was a lot of sod and I'm completely impressed that we were able to get it done right as the sun was going down.  I went around the next day and took some pictures of the beautiful grass.  It just looks so good!

We had about half of a pallet left over.  There were 15 pallets of sod.  Some of our neighbors used some of the sod and so did my Grandma Bushman.  Then Brad posted it on KSL and it was gone by lunch, every last scrap of it.

Aleah and Cade did some cute pictures during their quiet time the next day.  Aleah's picture that she drew was about her and Cade at the beach.  Cade's was our family at the beach.  Sounds like we need to go to the beach!

The morning after Aleah hit her eye the swelling was totally gone.  Now she looks like she has make up on.

Saturday morning we found that they forgot one of the sprinkler heads, yikes!  We think that somehow a rock must have pinched it because there wasn't a geyser, we just noticed some erosion.  And the fun yard work begins!  They couldn't come and fix it until Monday.  Brad had to clamp it off so that we could continue watering the grass.

We can not thank our family enough for all of the help that they gave us.  We really appreciate it and couldn't have done it without them.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Spring Break!

We started our spring break off by going to the zoo.  When we arrived we realized that we were not the only ones with that great idea.  It was a gorgeous day!  We had a picnic lunch, put on a bunch of sun screen, and joined the crowd.  There were 10 kids and 5 adults.  You would think that it wouldn't be hard for each adult to keep track of at least 2 kids.  Well, they could disappear in about 2 seconds.  We were constantly looking through the mass of people to find at least one of them.

Some of the monkeys were being hilarious!  They were swinging around and fighting.  We were all laughing so hard.

Aleah and Cade begged me to take their picture with the eagle and the nest and they posed themselves.

The sea lions are always so much fun to watch.  Cade asked me, "Are these sea bears?"  Haha, he knew that the polar bear was around there and I think he just mixed the names.

We could not find the polar bear this time.  We looked every where!  We were sad.  We love watching the polar bear.

There were so many people that it was taking us forever to walk through the park.  So we had to have an ice cream break!  I think that was one of my favorite parts.

 Aleah didn't want to leave this spot until I took a picture of her.  Such a cutie!

On the way out there wasn't a line for the elephant!

I had such a great time wandering around with my brother and sister and all of our kids!  Brad met up with us after we were done for some dinner.  I felt good to sit and visit.

The next day we went to gymnastics and then we drove down to Brian Head to stay at the cabin with Brad's parents.  Aleah and Cade headed right out to play in the snow!

 Then Aleah helped Grandma frost and decorate the cake.

We had a great evening visiting and relaxing.  Aleah and Cade had fun playing with all the fun toys at the cabin.

Friday morning Brad and I went snowboarding.  It was such a warm day.  The snow was really slushy! But, we were pretty much the only ones on the mountain.  The first half of the day we only saw about 5 or 6 other people.

After lunch we took Aleah and Cade down to the magic carpet so they could do some skiing for a little bit.  They remembered quickly and had a lot of fun.

Brad and I hit the slopes again.  We found a hill that no one had been on and so we made some figure eights.  It was so much fun!

We forgot swimming suites.  They kids really wanted to get in the hot tub with Grandma and Grandpa. So we let them go in their underwear.  They loved it!

The next morning Brad and Grandma took Cade and Aleah down the green run that is by the cabin and all the way down to the magic carpet area.  They loved it and learned a lot as they went down the mountain.  It was a good workout for Brad and Grandma!

Cade figured out how to make his skis do pizza and was able to stop.  He said, "Im glad I understand what pizza means now!"

Aleah was doing really well turning and slowing down.  I think that she is ready to go on the bunny hill lift!

Cade got done before Aleah.  He just wanted to watch her while she finished up.  He would say hi to her as she went by on the magic carpet and cheer for her as she came down the hill.

After Aleah and Cade were done skiing we went over to the big mountain and watched some pond skimming.  It was so much fun!  There were some funny crashes.  More people made it then we were expecting.  A few who made it across did flips over the bank at the end of the pond.  It was fun to watch!

Brad, Aleah and Cade made a snowman while I got dinner ready.  It turned out really cute.  They found the snowball maker and had fun with that as well.

Smores, smores, we love smores!  We love to eat smores and make up stories.  We made up some funny ones this time.

Clean up, back up time was nice because everyone helped.  Even Aleah and Cade!

The following Monday was preschool.  We had a fun time learning about the letter P and the number 15.  We had a fun time doing an experiment with pepper!

The best part of the vacation is always the time that we get to spend together as a family!  I love this family!
