Getting the Yard Started!

Our landscaper, Mike Trotter, came to do our second walk through with us on Thursday March 13th.  At the first walk through he said that he could start on Monday the 17th.  We had it marked on our calendar and we were excited!  At the end of the second walk through he said that he would like to do the trampoline the next day if that was ok with us.  We both said, "Of course!"  That night he dropped off some tractors.

Friday morning he showed up with one other guy and they got started!  I couldn't believe it, he had the weeds cleared in about 2 minute.

We sat by the window and watched and watched.  It was fun to watch and a little addicting!  It was definitely our entertainment for the ENTIRE day.

They had the trampoline in the ground by lunch time.  Well, some of it was in the ground.  Since our yard slopes we made the corner closest to the house just a little bit lower than the patio so that the yard would be more level by the house.  They had to build up the yard on the far side of the trampoline and it slopes quite a bit into the corner of our yard.  We love how it turned out!

Thankfully our neighbors, Curtis and Linda Robins, didn't get rid of all their dirt from when they dug for their house.  They said that we could use as much as we wanted.  That was a huge blessing for us!  We probably used over half of their big pile of dirt.  Which really helped to level out our yard and make it really nice.  What a blessing!

We love that they put gravel on the inside to keep the weeds down.  We didn't know he was going to do that.  He is such a great guy to work with and really did things the way he would have done it if it was his yard.

This was Cade's spot!  He was loving it!

We sat outside in the sun for about an hour, just watching and blowing bubbles!

By the end of the day they had the trample in the ground, the gravel ready for the patio, and most of the initial grading of the yard was done!  It was such a fun day!

When Brad got home from work we had to check everything out.  Cade had to check out the tractor!

It was such a nice evening that we decided to go for a bike ride.  Aleah and Cade wanted to ride in the trailer.  Once they were in we decided that it was probably their last time, they are just getting too big!

Saturday morning we went to the library to get some books for preschool on Monday, I was the teacher that day.  I love that Aleah and Cade always find a good book and sit and read while we are there.  We always leave with a big stack of books and then we spend quiet time reading them all.

Saturday night Brad and I had our last University of Utah gymnastics meet.  It was such a fun one!  Then we met up with my brother Nate and my sister Bre at the bowling alley.  We decided to do the unlimited bowling party package.  Every fifteen minutes they would give everyone a challenge and if you were one of the first 6 people to do it then you would win a prize.  Brad won the get a strike challenge!  He's so good at getting strikes.

Preschool was at our house on Monday, St. Patrick's Day!  We had a fun party.  I painted shamrocks on each of the kids faces,  we did lots of learning games, had a fun green snack of green apples and green quesadillas in the shape of shamrocks, and we had to do some finger painting!

After preschool we rushed to Aleah's gymnastics class.  It was a crazy crazy wind storm!  There were tumble weeds and garbage and stuff flying everywhere.  Winds got up to 80 mph!  I saw the biggest tumble weed ever coming from the field next to the road and heading straight for us.  It was as big as the front of the pilot.  I slammed on the brakes so that I wouldn't hit it, but I ended up crashing right into it.  Thankfully, the pilot is fine!

Aleah and Cade just got moved up to new classes.  Cade is now in level 2 and Aleah is in a level 2 class that competes.  Crazy, we went from 3 hours of gymnastics a week to 7 hours of gymnastics a week.  The girls in Aleah's new class were having a meet.  Aleah was not ready for the meet, but her teacher let her participate anyway.  She did her vault, handstand flat back, all by herself for the first time.  She did her floor routine with the music, and did well on bars and beam.  She had so much fun and her teacher gave her a medal!

We decided that sprinklers are the boring part of getting our yard done.  But, we are thankful that they are in!  Monday night Brad braved the storm with a head lamp on to put some electrical wire in the trenches so that we can have lights in our planters.  He is amazing!  I'm glad that he thought of doing it. It's going to look good.
We have been hoping and praying that we would be able to do our yard this spring.  It is wonderful to see the ways that Heavenly Father has helped us to make it possible for us to be doing our yard.  It is fun to look out our windows and not see weeds!
