Our new home finally got done, our loan finally came together, and we finally got the keys!
It was a very long and stressful few weeks for us. Everything kept getting delayed right at the end. Those city inspections were terrible for us! Everyone kept telling us how strict the American Fork inspectors are, boy are they not kidding! We could not pass our final inspection to get our occupancy permit, and we still haven't.
We were given a temporary permit which made it so that we could close and move in while our builder tries to correct all the little things that didn't pass the inspection. On the positive side we are getting some nice upgrades thanks to the picky inspector!
We woke up to lots of snow on the day that we were supposed to move. When we saw all the snow we were very thankful that we were not moving. We had hired a moving company and so we had to reschedule with them. Luckily they let us reschedule for free and thankfully they had one opening left, Thursday morning, the 20th, 5 days before Christmas! Thankfully everything worked out for us to close Wednesday night so that we could move the next morning.
Looking back I can see all the many ways that we were blessed and am thankful that everything worked out the way that it did, but it sure was stressful at the time!
We truly have the best family ever. There is no way that we could have done it without the help of my Mom, Todd, Rachel, Bryton, Nathan, and Katie. We can not thank them enough for all they did for us on moving day!
We also had a lot of help on the days leading up to moving day. My wonderful friends watched Aleah and Cade for me for a few hours each morning so that I could get a lot of packing done. My grandmas and my mom came over and helped us pack. I'm so thankful for their help!
Brad and I only had to stay up until 11pm Wednesday night doing the final packing. Thursday morning the movers showed up around 8:45 and got started right away. The only way to describe it is a whirlwind. They were so fast and good! As the movers packed up the trucks Brad, Todd, Bryton, and Nathan loaded all the odds and ends into Todd's minivan, my parents' truck and our jeep. My mom, Rachel, and I were able to get all the cleaning done. When everything was loaded up we went over to our new home and had some lunch. It was a nice break.
The movers showed up about an hour later and so did a bunch of young men and men from our new ward. Our new ward is so awesome! Everything was unloaded in 2 hours! Then my mom and Rachel unpacked my whole kitchen, and Crystal and her kids showed up and unpacked Aleah and Cade's clothes. Todd set up the kids beds and then they took Aleah and Cade for a few hours so that we could unpack some more. When they brought Aleah and Cade home they also brought us a tree! Todd and Bryton set it up for us and tada, we had a tree!
We are always so blessed to have the best neighbors ever! Our new neighbors brought us dinner that night, which was totally wonderful. It might sound strange, but it was really a great day. I'm so thankful for all the help we received and thankful that we hired a moving company. Seriously, that is the way to move!
We were excited to be in our new home and we all slept well in our new rooms.
As I was directing traffic during the move I saw my boxes of ornaments and so grabbed them before they got lost in the basement. Friday morning Aleah asked if she could decorate the tree. I was glad that I knew exactly where the ornaments were. I opened the boxes and then Aleah and Cade put all the ornaments on the tree. It was cute, when they were done all the ornaments were on the bottom 1/4 of the tree!
Cade found the Mickey Mouse ornament and then had a good time talking with Aleah about how much fun they had a Disney World. It amazes me how much they remember about our trip to Disney World. We really had a fun time! Then he said, "Mom, take picture of me with Mickey Mouse one!"
We hung our stockings on our fireplace.
And put some lights on our front porch!
We put out our nativity. Aleah and Cade loved looking at Baby Jesus!
While we had the ladder out we changed the direction of our fan with our barbecuer tongs and set it to the low speed instead of the highest speed.
And so by Friday night we were mostly unpacked and it felt like Christmas time around our home! We LOVE it here!
