Saturday Morning Means Yard Work!

We have yard work!  There is something magical about yard work.  I don't know if it is being out in the sun and fresh air, accomplishing a physically demeaning project, or being able to watch the yard transform and see the beauty in it.  We have been enjoying having yard work, minus the weeds, of course!  Getting the garden in was on the top of our list.

We are doing vertical square foot gardening.  So we had to buy the special, super expensive, dirt.  As we were loading the dirt in our pilot a man ask if we were doing square foot gardening.  After we said, "Yes." he said, "Enjoy your $50 tomatoes!"  Haha, it's very true in the beginning, but so worth it!

After we work we have to play.

Checking out new parks is always fun.  As we drive from place to place Aleah and Cade are always on the lookout for new parks.  They are so cute.  At this new park they were making us laugh.  Aleah was working at the restaurant.  Cade would tell her the order, "I'll have two hamburgers and one cheese burger."  Aleah would listen and then make the food and bring it to us.  I loved how Cade would put his entire face in the tube as he would say, "I need a milk shack and two ice cream sundaes." then Aleah would say, "Ok!" and get to work making our order.

On the way home we had to go to our favorite shave ice stand, Lucky's, for the first this summer.  It was delicious!

We got out the sprinkler for the first time.  Aleah and Cade loved it!  They ran through it screaming every time.  Then they moved it closer to the trampoline so that they could jump and get wet at the same time.  Cute kids!

We planted our vegetables, most from seeds.

Then Cade said, "Can I water my pumpkin?"  He is excited to grow his own pumpkin this year.

Helping Dad make the trellis was fun!  Brad had to use a sledge hammer to get the rebar into the ground.  When he hit a rock he just kept smacking it until the rock and/or the rebar moved.  Thankfully, he was able to get it in as far as necessary.

We got one yard of gravel to put around the garden boxes.  Next year we will add the flagstone.

 Welcome to my zen/vegetable garden.

We have been having fun during the week, as well.  We got to go to the Museum of Natural Curiosity with Grandma Bushman, Emma, Grant, and Braedan.

And again with Grandma Godfrey, Corbin, Sydnee, and Mathew.

A highlight of the day was building a castle,

knocking it down,

and building some towers!

We had a wonderful memorial day.  We are thankful for our country, our freedoms, and those who have and still do fight for us!

Summer is great!  I love that I can turn on a sprinkler and the kids are entertained for hours.

We got out the old pool.  It stayed inflated just long enough for the kids to play, laugh and splash around.  We might be in need of a new one this year.

We got the valances for our new blinds.  They look so much better now!
